The Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship is the ideal starting point for anyone beginning their journey into accountancy or finance. Designed for those with no prior experience, the programme builds a strong foundation in bookkeeping, finance systems, and key accounting principles.

Apprentices will gain the technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to become confident, capable employees — all while working in a real finance role.

As an assistant accountant, you'll work under the guidance of a more senior accountant, managing your own caseload and handling a wide range of routine tasks - including data entry, producing management reports, preparing VAT returns, and assisting with tax computations and year-end financial statements.

Professional Accounting Technician (Level 4)

Work as an accountant or tax technician in a business, practice, or public sector organisation.

Professional accounting or taxation technicians play a key role in the production, verification, and analysis of financial information. Working either within an organisation's finance team or on behalf of clients, these professionals take responsibility for preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and other financial data - in line with ethical, legal, and professional requirements. This advanced apprenticeship blends technical accounting or tax knowledge with strong analytical and organisational skills.
