Here are our top tips for employers to consider when choosing a training provider, as provided by Angela Renshaw…
My top tip for employers is to do your homework. Take the time to research potential training providers, look at their success rates, reviews and case studies, and ask for examples of how they’ve supported other businesses and apprentices.
It’s also important to look at the level of support and flexibility a provider offers. Apprenticeships should fit around the realities of your business, so check how they deliver off-the-job training, how they communicate with both employers and learners, and whether they can adapt programmes to meet your specific workforce needs.
Most importantly, the employer and apprentice should be at the heart of everything the provider does. You want to work with a provider who treats apprenticeships as more than just numbers or ‘bums on seats.’ The right provider will genuinely focus on helping your apprentices succeed, tailoring learning to the workplace, and supporting your business objectives.
Other things to consider include whether the provider has experience in your sector, the quality of their teaching and assessment, and their track record in achieving high success rates.
It’s also important to look at the experience and expertise of the staff, as well as staff retention and continuity, because apprentices often benefit from learning from the same trainers and getting used to a consistent teaching style.
A strong, collaborative provider will feel like an extension of your business, supporting growth, development and long-term success for both apprentices and employers.
