Should I transfer or stay on Q2022?

Many learners may choose to continue with the current Q2022 Level 4 qualification, and that is absolutely fine. The current Level 4 qualification remains recognised and respected. We can talk you through both routes and help you decide what works best for your circumstances.

Staying on Q2022 Level 4 may suit you if… Transferring to the new Level 4 may suit you if…
You are already well progressed through your Q2022 assessments and close to completion. You are at an early stage of Q2022 Level 4 and keen to study the most up-to-date version of the qualification.
You want to complete your qualification before the Q2022 deadline of 31 July 2028 and minimise disruption to your studies. You have only completed one or two Q2022 units and a transfer would not set you back significantly.
Staying on Q2022 is the most cost-effective option given the study materials you already hold. You would prefer to hold the most recent version of the Level 4 qualification for your CV and career progression.
You can continue to enrol on Q2022 Level 4 until 31 August 2026. Your employer or progression route specifically requires the new qualification standards.
Important Q2022 deadlines: Learners on the current Q2022 Level 4 have until 31 July 2028 to complete their assessments, with final certification available until 31 October 2028. You can also continue to enrol on Q2022 Level 4 until 31 August 2026.

Key dates for the new AAT Level 4 qualification

Understanding the timeline for the new qualification will help you plan your studies effectively. Please note that most learners will not be able to complete the full new qualification until early 2027 at the earliest.

Phase 1 assessments — September 2026
