ICB Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping - Introduction

Assignment 1

The A1 unit considers the role of the bookkeeper and looks at the basic principles involved in double entry bookkeeping to the creation of the trial balance. You’ll learn about the different business documents used in the supply of goods and services, different business types and the specific accounting requirements used in different accounting systems as well as correctly accounting for VAT when making entries into a bookkeeping system.

When you click ‘Next’ you will be prompted to read a section of the book. You can read it from within the programme or you can read the hard copy from your course material. At the end of the chapter there are practice questions (answers can be found at the end of the hard-copy book) and you should also attempt the supplementary material in your Revision Kit.

When you have read the chapter there will be a video recording (at least one but often more) which will aid understanding of the topics you have just read about. Following the text and videos there is a short quiz to check you've understood the chapter.

After the relevant number of chapters you will be taken to the assignment as shown on your personal timetable. Your tutor will need to mark this assignment as a 'progress report' before you can complete the next assignment, but there is nothing to stop you at this stage continuing with the next section of the course.

Click the "Next" button when you are ready.
