AAT Advanced Level - Introduction
In this section you will learn about:
- The Purpose of Accounting
- Principles of Double Entry
- The Trial Balance
When you click ‘Next’ you will be prompted to read a section of the book. You can read it from within the programme or you can read the hard copy from your course material. At the end of the chapter there are practice questions (answers can be found at the end of the hard-copy book) and you should also attempt the supplementary material in your Revision Kit.
When you have read the chapter there will be a video recording (at least one but often more) which will aid understanding of the topics you have just read about. Following the text and videos there is a short quiz to check you've understood the chapter.
After the relevant number of chapters you will be taken to the assignment as shown on your personal timetable. Your tutor will need to mark this assignment as a 'progress report' before you can complete the next assignment, but there is nothing to stop you at this stage continuing with the next section of the course.
Click the "Next" button when you are ready.

Skills Check - Ready for your assignment?
It is vital that you start your Q2022 AAT accountancy / bookkeeping course at the right level. If you start at too low a level you’ll find it too easy and you may lose enthusiasm; if you start at too high a level you’ll find it too difficult and may not be able to achieve the qualification.
To help ensure you make the right choice we have developed a short initial assessment quiz which you can access here: Foundation Certificate or Advanced Certificate/Diploma. One of our qualified tutors will mark and return it directly to you free of charge. Once you’ve completed this it will be clear which level and qualification are right for you and you can proceed confidently that you’ve made the right choice.
