Enrol onto the new AAT 2013 standards

You may have already received information explaining that the AQ2010 standards are changing from 1st September 2013 to the AQ2013 standards.

A lot of students are concerned that they will have to complete the current 2010 standards by the 1st September 2013 but this is not the case. The AAT have confirmed that they will allow all students to complete the 2010 standards by December 31st 2014, therefore you do not have to complete by the 1st September. Please note your AAT 2010 membership must be up to date and current at 1st September to do this.

  • If you complete the level you are currently studying by August 31st (all units completed and reported) you may start the next level on the new 2013 standards.
  • If you do not complete the level you are currently studying by December 2014 you will be required to migrate over to the standards. Majority of the units are transferable but there are some units where you will be required to complete what’s called a transitional assessment. If you believe you will not complete by December 2014  please contact your tutor or course advisor and they will guide you through the best options for you to transfer over to the new standards.

Below you will find some tables that will explain the action required if you have not completed 2010 standards by December 2014.

If your current AAT student membership has lapsed and you are planning to resume your AAT studies, you’ll need to reinstate as a student member. There are two options for you to reinstate:

  • Reinstate before 1 September 2013: You will be reinstated onto the AQ2010 qualification. This will mean that you will have until December 2014 to complete all assessments on your current level under the AQ2010 standards. You’ll need to pay the 2012/13 student membership fee of £82 only.
  • Reinstate on or after 1 September 2013: You will be reinstated onto the AQ2013 qualification. All levels that you have successfully achieved on AQ2010 are still valid, but if you are part way through a level, you may need to restart that level on AQ2013. This is because the units that were achieved on AQ2010 cannot be transferred directly to AQ2013 as they will no longer be valid. To reinstate, you’ll need to pay a reinstatement fee of £30, in addition to the 2013/14 student membership fee of £84.

To reinstate as an AAT student member simply log in to your MyAAT account, download a reinstatement form, submit it to AAT and pay the appropriate fees.
