  Association of Accounting Technicians

Premier Accountancy Training offers distance learning and home study training support and materials for AAT Certificate, Advanced Certificate and AAT Diploma students in South Africa.

There are several layers of competence available for those undertaking their AAT Qualification: Certificate, Advanced and Diploma.

Certificate Stage

There are no formal entry requirements to join the Certificate stage and students can join regardless of age, education and employment status. South African students will however need reasonable numeracy skills as well as a good understanding of the English language, as the assessments will include a certain amount of report writing.

Advanced Certificate Stage

Students normally start at the Certificate Stage, but entry direct to the Advanced Certificate Stage is permitted provided you can satisfy the Association of Accounting Technicians entry requirements. Please ask us for our advice.

To complete the Advanced Certificate stage you must complete five units of competence (four if Accounting Work Skills has already been completed as part of Certificate stage).

AAT Diploma Stage

South African students will normally be expected to complete Certificate and Advanced Certificate stages but entry direct to the Diploma Stage is permitted provided you can satisfy the Association of Accounting Technicians entry requirements. Please ask us for advice.

Units of competence

To complete the Diploma stage you must complete six units of competence. Four are compulsory and two are optional, selected from a range of three.

Finally...

On completion of the whole course, in order to progress to membership of the Association you must obtain at least one year's relevant work experience. Experience can be gained in any employment sector and can be gained before, during or after studying for the Diploma qualification.
