WHAT IS CIMA?

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants was founded in 1919 as the 'Institute of Cost and Works Accountants' and adopted its present title in 1986, having been granted the Royal Charter in 1975.

CIMA members are Accountants in Business. They represent financial managers and accountants who work in industry, commerce, not-for-profit and public sector organisations. Their key activities are related to Business Strategy, Information Strategy and Finance Strategy.

CIMA's focus is to qualify students, support members and employers, and protect the public interest. They represent the voice of over 80,000 students and 62,000 members in 155 countries.

CIMA's emphasis on management functions makes the course unique, and it is internationally recognised as offering the financial qualification for business.
