Assessment and Certification
The course is assessed on a modular basis by a combination of both traditional examinations and Skill-based assessments, together with a Management Project which is completed during the final year.
Examinations
Examinations are set and marked by the AAT. Sittings take place every June and December at Approved Assessment Centres (AACs) throughout the world.
To achieve a pass a student must simply demonstrate competence in all sections of each paper. If unsuccessful a student is permitted to re-sit the examination as many times as is necessary until a pass is achieved.
Distance Learning students will sit at a centre near their home. Because we tailor the training we provide to suit the needs of individual students, our success rates are usually much better than the national average at each sitting. (For more details see the Results page).
Skill Based Assessments
In the case of skills-based assessment responsibility for the process is in the hands of Premier Training (Approved Assessment Centre BH1788) who will use a combination of different types of evidence to prove competence in a particular unit. With Premier Training the use of individual flexible timetables mean that assessment takes place as and when the candidate and assessor agree that the candidate is ready rather than at an arbitrary date that suits the administration of the course.
This is a big advantage for most students, as everyone learns at their own pace and the individual is not therefore pressurised into an assessment for which they do not feel fully prepared. This approach is consistently reflected in the first class results achieved by Premier Training students in both examinations and skills-based assessments.
